At the 2025 Shanghai International Light Festival, the installation "Cloud Tides on the Shore", designed by ARC Studio with professional lighting sculpture solutions provided by YD, stands by the Huangpu River. As visitors gently wave their hands, the lights undulate like ocean waves, as if moved by an invisible force.

The installation, themed "Light and Shadow of the Huangpu River", features a main structure composed of curved steel elements. Each element is densely fitted with independently controllable IP68-rated linear lights and point light sources, together forming a flowing digital canvas.

By day, the installation resembles a frozen wave, captured in stillness along the riverbank. By night, the linear lights simulate rolling waves, while point lights mimic the shimmer of starlight in the details. The overall lighting effect shifts and changes in rhythm with accompanying wave-like music.

Beyond the luminaires, YD also supplied the LED control system, seamlessly integrating interactive control signals from the designers. The installation captures the movements of visitors in real time, triggering corresponding light responses. It also incorporates live environmental data, ensuring that every flicker and surge of light responds to real-time flowing information—such as shifts in temperature, humidity, and wind speed.

Here, the audience is not just observing—they are co-creators.
The waves come alive through you, the light and shadow shimmer because of you.
It is in this moment that the meaning of the work is truly illuminated.
