Deputy Director of YD Illumination Intelligent Lighting Institute attended the CIE Washington Conference and chaired the TC4-58 meeting.

  On June 14-22, 2019, the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) held a 29th Quadrennial Session of the CIE in Washington, DC. The conference brought together experts and scholars from many fields of CIE, including color, measurement, lighting applications, photobiology and imaging technology. Professor Bing Shukui, the Chairman of China Illuminating Engineering Society, Vice President of CIE Publication and Professor of Tongji University and Vice President of China Illuminating Engineering Society Professor Hao Luoxi, Professor Lin Yandan of Fudan University of The School of Information Science and Technology , Dr. Luo Ming, School of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering,Zhejiang University,  Steve Lau , deputy director of the YD Illumination Intelligent Lighting Institute, attended the conference. The conference was attended by 478 representatives from 37 countries. The conference included 292 papers, 125 oral reports, and 8 special working group meetings. Among them, 48 Chinese papers and 51 Chinese representatives attended the conference.

  On the first day of the conference, the conference invited the 1997 Nobel laureate William D. Phillip to make the theme report "THE HISTORIC REVISION OF THE INTERNATIONAL SYSTEM OF UNITS". Then, Wang Lili from Southeast University, Wang Shuxiao from China Academy of Building Research, Zhu Yuechen, a doctoral student at Zhejiang University, and Hou Dandan, a Ph.D. student and research assistant at Fudan University, gave a report on the conference.

  Steve lau as the Deputy Director of the Institute, Laboratory Director, Foreign Expert of YD Illumination and TC chair of TC4-58 chair the first TC4-58 meeting.

  And presented a speech about‘The latest trend of international landscape lighting and the latest updates on the TC4-58’.

  The TC meeting also arranged five TC members' speeches: Christopher Kyba of the German Research Center for Geo-science; Professor of the University of Hawaii, Richard Wainscoat, former president of the International Union of Astronomers; Henk Stolk, outdoor lighting expert and NSVV author from the Netherlands; CIE Taiwan, Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute, CIE150-2017 author Peng Baoren; British outdoor lighting application expert Allan Howard. The TC meeting also attracted the participation of many experts and scholars, and gave affirmation and praise to the speeches made by the six presenters.

  CIE TC4-58,founded in September 2018, there are 24 members from 16 different countries around the world, including China, the United States, Canada, Turkey, Greece, Austria, Greece, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic etc.

  At the dinner of the conference, the current CIE President Yoshi Ohno introduced the new board of directors. Ms. Hao Luoxi, vice President of China Illuminating Engineering Society, professor of Tongji University, became the vice President of CIE and will be in charge of publication affairs for a term of 2019- 2023.
